Prince William allegedly weighed in on his mother’s secret crush on Kevin Costner during her lifetime.
During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the Yellowstone actor recalled an audience with the Prince of Wales over a decade after the death of Princess Diana.
Prior to the tragic accident in 1998, which claimed life of the beloved princess of Britain and her then-love interest Dodi Al-Fayed, she was in talks with Kevin for a potential Hollywood debut.
The actor claimed on the show that the plan was orchestrated by Sarah Ferguson to have Diana star in sequel to hit film Bodyguard alongside Costner.
However, the plot fell apart after an intervention from royal family, who later “turned on” him, leading to years-long “ugly” feud.
Speaking during the show, the 69-year-old actor said: "I happened to be in England, and I got this message that the prince would love to talk, and I said, 'What?'... and then I went, 'Okay.’”
"We met in this room, and it was just us," he says. "He walked up, and we shook hands... The first line out of his mouth was, 'You know, my mom kind of fancied you,’” Kevin enthused.
He went on to rave about the brief interaction with the ‘very swwt’ future King of England, calling William "quite a young man."
The actor added he was left with "such fond memories of who he was, how I was approached and what we talked about."
