Yeon Sang-ho, an acclaimed Korean filmmaker, is teaming up with Netflix again for his next project, an adaptation of his webtoon Revelations, with Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón executive producing and consulting.
Yeon gained international recognition with his 2016 hit Train to Busan and has since directed several projects for Netflix, including Jung_E, Hellbound, and Parasyte: The Grey.
Yeon expressed his enthusiasm at the collaboration, but Netflix declined to elaborate on how Cuarón got involved with the film Revelations.
“Alfonso Cuarón, known for masterpieces like Children of Men and Gravity, has greatly influenced my work as a director,” he said.
“I am thrilled at this opportunity to collaborate with him on shaping Revelations, and I have high expectations for our partnership.”
Cuarón's next directing project, Disclaimer, a psychological thriller miniseries starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, is forthcoming on Apple TV+.
Meanwhile, Yeon Sang-ho is reuniting with screenwriter Choi Gyu-seok for the film adaptation of Revelations, a webtoon they collaborated on.
The story follows a pastor, Min-chan (Ryu Jun-yeol), who receives a divine revelation about a missing persons case and teams up with detective Yeon-hee (Shin Hyun-been) to pursue justice.
As they navigate their investigation, they grapple with their own beliefs and personal demons.
Produced by Wow Point, a global production company behind Netflix's The Bequeathed and Parasyte: The Grey, Revelations promises a gripping exploration of faith, reality, and retribution.
