Ariana Grande defends voice change accusations: It’s a ‘habit’
Ariana Grande’s voice seemed to drastically change mid-sentence in a recent viral interview clip
Ariana Grande is shutting down the speculation about her voice change.
Over the weekend, a clip of the 30-year-old pop star’s recent appearance on Podcrushed went viral, showing her switching her speaking voice from a lower to a higher register mid-sentence.
The clip quickly caught the attention of social media users, sparking widespread speculation about the reason behind her changing vocal tones.
Grande decided to clear the air directly in the comments section of a TikTok video discussing the clip.
“Habit (speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health :)” she explained.
“I intentionally change my vocal placement (high/low) often depending on how much I’m doing,” she further elaborated, adding a crying emoji.
“I’ve always done this BYE,” Grande concluded, putting an end to the speculation once and for all.
When the clip first went viral, fans were divided, with some criticising the Wicked star for what seemed like a deliberate voice change.
However, many others came to her defense, comparing her situation to that of Austin Butler, whose voice altered significantly while portraying Elvis Presley and reportedly took some time to return to normal.
