Selena Gomez thinks ‘girls are mean’ and loves to befriend ‘levelheaded people’
Selena Gomez shares her thoughts on friendship, loneliness and love in a new interview
Selena Gomez has recently confessed she loves having “levelheaded people” around her as best friends.
“I love having levelheaded people around me that couldn’t care what I do,” said the singer and actress in a new interview with Time.
The Only Murders in the Building actress stated, “It’s a cliché, but girls are mean.”
“It’s a very weird competition, being in the cool girls area—and then I’m just kind of like, there. I don’t know where I’m meant to belong,” explained the 31-year-old.
Elsewhere in the interview, Selena opened up about her struggling with loneliness.
“You could be in a crowd of people and still feel alone. I still deal with that,” mentioned the songstress.
Reflecting on her previous heartbreak, Selena noted, “You can distract yourself and you can deny and deny all you want, but it’ll still be there.”
“I just allow myself to have those days,” remarked the singer.
Selena, who split with Justin Bieber for a final time in 2018 after an eight-year on-and-off relationship, pointed out, “I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone.”
“And then I kind of accepted it,” she continued.
Selena further said, “Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone.”
However, she met Benny Blanco and fell in love with him.
“It just happens when you least expect it. I just cherish every moment with him,” dished the singer.
Selena added, “I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that he’s not going anywhere any time soon.”
