Cristiano Ronaldo's record sparks 'bitter' comment
Al Nassr player's latest record makes former Liverpool player say something "bitter" about Saudi Pro League
Cristiano Ronaldo made history with his goals at Saudi Pro League for Al Nassr.
By becoming the player with the most goals in a single season of the Saudi Pro League in history, Ronaldo broke yet another record, according to Sportskeeda.
Al Nassr player scored 35 goals this season. He beat the record of the current AI Ittihad forward Abderrazak Hamdallah, who secured 34 goals in the season of 2018-19.
Stan Collymore, a former Liverpool player, expressed his opinion on the future of the Saudi Pro League and Cristiano Ronaldo’s newly achieved feat for Al Nassr in a column of CaughtOffside.
Collymore paid his respects to Cristiano Ronaldo. However, he also said that the Saudi Pro League will never get to the level of the top European domestic leagues because no player will want to go to Saudi Arabia at their peak following Ronaldo's record achievement.
"No disrespect to Cristiano Ronaldo, whose 35 goals is a remarkable achievement even if he was doing that at his age in Sunday league football, but I can’t cannot see a time where European footballers head to Saudi Arabia to give the best years of their life," the former Liverpool player said.
