PAK vs ENG: Babar Azam expresses disappointment with middle-order
Pakistan lost the recently-concluded four-match T20I series 2-0 against England
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam on Thursday expressed disappointment with the team's middle-order after the Green Shirts witnessed a humiliating defeat at the hands of England.
The Men in Green lost the recently-concluded four-match T20I series 2-0 against England on Thursday.
In the final match, the hosts chased the 158-run target in the 16th over after bowling Babar Azam and Co out for 157.
The captain, during the post-match presentation ceremony, was happy with the way the Green Shirts batted in the powerplay, however, the innings went downhill in the middle overs.
"After six overs we were doing very well, but then I got out, the middle-order needs to step up," he said.
"England's bowling is very good, so we had to take our chances. Need to sort out those things for the World Cup. A few injuries but a lot of positives, we played well in patches, but to win you need 100%," he added.
Meanwhile, netizens also lambasted the team on social media for their performance in the series.
It should be noted that the first and third matches of the T20I series were washed out due to rain and the second match was won by England by 23 runs in Birmingham.
This was the last warm-up series for both sides before the T20 World Cup 2024, which will begin in the United States and West Indies from June 1.
