Sanjay Leela Bhansali reflected on how the tension between him and Richa Chadha resulted in the perfect shot after 99 retakes in Heeramandi.
During an interview with India Today, the 61-year-old Indian filmmaker discussed the filming process of the highly-discussed song Masoom Dil Hai Mera featuring Richa Chadha.
The Padmavat director described it as a "very special" moment, expressing that despite numerous attempts, the Fukrey actress couldn't achieve the desired outcome as he envisioned.
SLB also mentioned that Richa's inability to get into the required state of mind initially left him feeling somewhat upset.
He revealed that this frustration between them eventually led to the perfect expression on the actress's face that he had been aiming for.
He noted that among all the songs he's filmed, this was a rare instance where the actor experienced the emotional weight of the scene she endured, rather than just reacting to his frustration and questioning the number of takes.
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is streaming on Netflix.
The web-series features an ensemble cast includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal in the lead roles.
