Ariana Grande receives high praises from Katy Perry: ‘I don’t say it lightly’
Katy Perry made a sweeping declaration about Ariana Grande and has held that opinion for years
Katy Perry considers Ariana Grande the best voice of this generation, and she has held this opinion for quite some time.
Chatting to EXTRA about American Idol Season 22 winner Abi Carter recently, the Roar hitmaker, 39, made a call back to the first time she made the declaration about Grande years ago.
The former American Idol judge first sang praises of Carter, expressing, “I think she was authentic, I think she was humble, I think she was singing with an angelic frequency.
She continued, “The way that she sang from the heart and the cry and the crackle, it was just like, whoa. This is a whole ‘nother voice.”
The Grammy-winner then admitted that Carter’s voice “is unlike anything I’ve ever heard in pop music,” which is when she brought up Grande in the conversation.
“The last time I said that, I said that about Ariana Grande when she went on The Ellen [DeGeneres] Show,” Perry said as she recalled thinking the same thing about the Yes, And? songstress,
“I was like, ‘Oh this girl is the best singer of our generation,’” she further recollected.
“So, I don’t say that lightly,” she asserted, proving that she meant every word of her praises for both Carter and Grande.
