The Good Doctor bids farwell to Dr. Shaun Murphy's friend

The Good Doctor hit series came to an end as the series finale aired on Thursday, May 21.

Spoiler ahead, read at your own risk! According to People Magazine, the latest episodes chronicled Claire's, played by Antonia Thomas, treatment for complications related to stage 1 breast cancer and the death of a beloved character.

As Claire underwent treatment, it was discovered that her cancer had spread further than expected, prompting her to go into septic shock. However, Dr. Shaun Murphy, played by Freddie Highmore, successfully operated on her.

While they were dealing with Claire's survival, Dr. Glassman, portrayed by Richard Schiff, disclosed that he had three to six months to live as his cancer had returned and was terminal.

On the other hand, Shaun, refusing to accept Glassman's fate, called on the surgical team, including Audrey Lim played by Christina Chang, Alex Park played by Will Yun Lee, and Morgan portrayed by Fiona Gubelmann, to find a way to help him beat the cancer without revealing Glassman's identity.

However, after reviewing the reports and patient's medical history, the team quickly identified that it was the hospital's co-president and declined to help him.

Park explained to the doctors that aiding Shaun at this point wasn't so much about actually finding a viable solution but helping him to realize the inevitable. "Until Shaun accepts what we already know — that there is no treatment," Park explained.

Later in the episode, Dr. Glassman had a heart-to-heart conversation with Murphy, explaining that he didn’t want to suffer through painful treatments and only wanted to enjoy the time he had left, especially with Shaun.

He reluctantly agreed with his friend's choice and eventually learned to accept it.
