Flower Moon: When, where, how to see lunar event?
May's full Flower Moon is set to take over skies this week
Flower Moon, the fifth full Moon of 2024, will shine in the early evening skies when it rises in the east shortly after the Sun sets in the West this week.
In addition to the names "Flower Moon" and "Milk Moon," it is also known as the "Hare Moon", according to Forbes.
Additionally, it will show up in the night sky near the red supergiant star Antares in the Scorpius constellation.
Flower Moon: Best time, places to see it
On Thursday, May 23, around 13:53 UTC/9:53 am EDT, the Flower Moon will reach fullness; nevertheless, the optimal time to view it this month is up for debate.
When the full Moon rises on the eastern horizon shortly after the Sun has set in the West, it appears at its most beautiful. It is coloured as a gorgeous, subdued orange at that time and appears more noticeable than usual. On Thursday, May 23, at moonrise where you are, will be the ideal moment to see it.
The full Moon will rise before sunset on Wednesday, May 22 from North America this month. However, long after it on Thursday, May 23, there will be no views of it to be had during dusk. It will be visible in New York, Los Angeles and London.
Interestingly, the bonus, however, is that Antares, the brightest star in the constellation Scorpius, will be visible to its lower-left.
