Sanjay Leela Bhansali expressed that actors tend to "hijack" films and fail to acknowledge technicians when their work receives appreciation, citing it as "the problem of Indian cinema."
During a conversation with Galatta Plus, the 61-year-old Bollywood filmmaker remarked that actors frequently harbor the misconception that they alone are accountable for delivering a commendable performance.
He also elaborated that although certain actors feel they have been "given the freedom” to execute a scene as they desire, it is merely an "illusion of freedom" presented to them.
The Padmavat director shared that an actor “has to realize that I am not the star," adding, "Please acknowledge and say I did this performance and I had a great dialogue writer, art director, costume guy, make up person. You will rarely find an actor giving credit to other people for their performance.”
