OpenAI reportedly plans to introduce its artificial intelligence-powered search engine on Monday, further fueling its rivalry with Google by upstaging Google I/O 2024, Business Standard reported.
As per reports from Bloomberg and other publications, the ChatGPT parent company, in collaboration with Microsoft, is planning to launch the search product to rival Google and Perplexity.
The new search service would allow users to ask ChatGPT a question and have the chatbot respond with an answer that includes citations from online sources such as news, blog posts, Wikipedia, and more. It will also display images when the query demands it.
The launch date, while tentative, couldn’t be more strategic, as on May 14, Google will be hosting its annual developer conference, in which the company announces its biggest announcements of the year.
OpenAI has refused to comment or confirm the date.
Following ChatGPT‘s debut in 2022, it quickly became the fastest application to achieve 100 million monthly active users; however, lately, its traffic has been falling as the chatbot does not provide real-time information.
In an effort to update the app with real-time data, OpenAI introduced ChatGPt plug-ins; however, they were discontinued in April.
