Apple is facing major AI dilemmas prior to the company’s launch of the same tools at the World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2024 keynote in June.
Multiple apps, that can be used to create AI-generated explicit images, have been reportedly taken down by the company.
Without taking people’s consent to do so, these AI-powered apps were creating explicit AI images of them, as per a report. Every now and then, apps are seen bypassing their checks through other sources even though Apple usually has a strict policy against these apps.
Apps are breaking all basic rules and provoking users with the promise of AI-based editing, face swaps and more with the advent of artificial intelligence technology.
Some of these apps were discovered by Apple as they were being marketed through ads on Instagram.
Apps were apparently allowed to gain access to their phone’s gallery by having certain features. They then misused this content to create explicit images. Apple has a strict policy against apps like these, especially if they misuse its user’s privacy.
Though, Apple has a strict policy against such apps, the company merely acted on the perpetrator apps once the report shared the details.
