Meghan Markle has been compared to American wife of exiled King Edward VIII for allegedly “stealing” Prince Harry.
Writing for The Independent, associate editor Sean O’Grady claimed the Duchess of Sussex has been left scratching her head at the duke’s decision to change his primary residence to the US.
He said: “When he [King Edward VIII] abdicated in 1936, a substantial portion of the British public took the view that his American girlfriend had ‘stolen our prince’. Perhaps she did, but she didn’t seem to know what to do with him afterwards.”
“It’s not entirely clear what Meghan wants to do with Harry either,” the author added.
Sean explained the Montecito couple gave up on their charitable endeavours once they left the Firm to start a new life in the States, with the exception of The Invictus Games and Archewell Foundation.
He also noted they are running out of material for reality-style documentaries saying “nor can they ‘mine’ much more of their experiences for Netflix”.
It comes after Harry got his new country of residence was changed from the UK to America after being evicted from Frogmore Cottage in June last year.
