Popular messaging app WhatsApp launched a new and useful feature for users to create events for inviting others in community groups for online meetings via voice or video calls, and their targeted notifications to recipients who have accepted the invitations.

The latest "event" feature specifically designed to facilitate community group members was discovered after the release of the Android 2.24.9.20 update of the Meta-owned app which is now available on the Google Play Store.

WABetaInfo shared a screenshot which diverts beta testers’ attention to the new feature for creating events within their community group chats. If this feature is available, a dedicated option will appear directly within the attachment panel for initiating events with ease.

For event creation, users are required to input a name, description, date, including an optional location, and specify if a voice or video call is needed

After sending an event’s invitation to a group, recipients can review and accept it after receiving an event’s invitation from creator who also holds authority to edit its details which would be notified to those members who accepted the invite.

Additionally, the tech giant is also mulling over expanding this feature to regular group chats which is currently restricted to communities, however, its execution is not scheduled yet.

The event feature will be accessible to more people over the coming weeks.
