Muslims across the globe will be celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr after fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.
As Ramadan wraps up, countries all around the world are gearing up to spot the Shawwal crescent which will mark the date for Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 and the start of a new month in the Islamic lunar calendar, Hindustan Times reported.
Saudi Arabia, the holiest place for Muslims, is expected to celebrate Eid on April 9 if the moon is sighted today. Otherwise, it will take place on April 10.
Following suit, as per the Birmingham Mail, the United Kingdom will conduct Eid moon sightings on April 9 as astronomical predictions suggest that the moon will not be visible on April 8.
In the United States, the Central Hilal Committee of North America has notified that the Eid-ul-Fitr moon will be sighted on April 9, Tuesday.
In the United Arab Emirates, the moon-sighting committee has invited all Muslims in the country to sight the crescent of the month of Shawwal on Monday evening.
In Morocco, astronomical predictions suggest that the moon will be visible on Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10.
In Turkey, Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 is projected to fall on April 11.
In India, the crescent moon is expected to be visible on the evening of April 9.
