Arkansas Razorbacks coach Eric Mussleman on Thursday was announced as the new head coach for the University of Southern California's men's basketball team which was followed by a flood of mixed reactions from fans on social media.
Razorbacks fans took to social media after the announcement to reveal that they were shocked to learn of Musselman's new role and many said that they had hoped he would've stayed longer, KARK reported.
However, others said that Musselman leaving the Razorback can’t really hurt the programme.
Katrina Tracy, a diehard Razorback fan reacted to the unexpected news saying: "Shock, surprised, but not, he's had a couple of good seasons, doesn’t surprise me that maybe he might want to take his talents elsewhere.
"He brought a lot of spirit to the game, he had a way of rallying fans and his team."
The 59-year-old basketball coach who excelled at Arkansas plans to leave the team this summer after two elite eight trips and a sweet 16 appearance.
Fan and University of Arkansas alumni, Bart Gray said Musselman revived Razorback men's basketball.
"I understand that he needs to do what he needs to do, and be himself, but he was good for us, and we are glad to have been associated with him," Gray said. "It's a sad day anytime we have a change, I wish him the best of luck, but we still have got a great university and a good athletic director, we’ll be okay."
