Apple is set to release its most recent operating system in June, which may bring artificial intelligence AI-powered capabilities.
However, not all iPhone models will be able to use this iOS, according to Daily Mail.
Reportedly, the iOS upgrade will not be available to users of iPhones made before 2018, including those in the SE series and the 8 Plus model or earlier.
Due to outdated hardware components with a slower processor and less RAM that can't support powerful features, older iPhones won't work with iOS 18.
Apple's "largest" upgrade to date, iOS 18, is expected to bring massive language models and other AI technologies.
When the business unveiled the iPhone XR and iPhone XS models in 2018, the iOS 18 update was introduced, and smart devices that want to run it will need to have an A12 Bionic chip.
Because the A11 Bionic chip (found in the iPhone X, 8, and 8 Plus) and the A10 Fusion chip (found in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus) have slower processors than the later models, they will not be able to support the update as effectively.
Although Apple usually drops iPhone models that can't keep up with the latest iOS release, it is sticking with the seven and eight series this year.
You can anticipate losing access to iOS 18 and all upcoming software updates if your iPhone isn't a series 11 through 15 model or the second and third generation SE, XR, XS, or XS Max.
