Kumar Taurani, the producer of Kya Kehna, revealed that Saif Ali Khan's role in the film was a last-minute decision, prompting him to bring his own wardrobe to the set.
During an interview with The Music Podcast, Kumar Taurani recalled the production of Kya Kehna and the unforeseen casting of Saif Ali Khan.
Taurani disclosed that originally, they had chosen a different actor for the role but he backed out on the day of the shoot, saying, “We knew that he is not going to show up,” putting them in a difficult situation.
He further revealed that they realized they couldn't proceed without a replacement, so they quickly reached out to Saif .
He explained the situation, “So in the evening, we went to Saif’s house, that you listen to the film. He listened to it and said yes. We told him that we will start shooting tomorrow."
He said "okay, no problem’. We had already done Kachche Dhaage with him and he was very happy. Because Saif’s casting was last-minute, there wasn’t any time to get his wardrobe ready."
"So, they requested Saif to bring his own clothes. we asked him show us your clothes. We selected his clothes and we told him please bring these clothes and come to the set tomorrow and we started shooting,” Kumar added.
The film, Kya Kehna was released on May 19, 2000.
