Sara Ali Khan has recently acknowledged that her portrayal as a middle-class girl wouldn't serve as an effective promotion strategy for her upcoming film Ae Watan Mere Watan.
As reported by Pinkvilla, during a recent interview, the 28-year-old actress said, “As an actor, this is a genre I’ve never done. So now, I don’t have the crutch of being the ‘namaste darshakon’ girl, the ‘knock knock’ joke girl.”
“The girl with the abs, or the bubbly and bindaas girl who will just speak her mind. My sasti juttis isn’t going to help here,” the Love Aaj Kal actress added.
Ae Watan Mere Watan is a historical biographical drama film that narrates the life of Usha Mehta amidst India's struggle for freedom in 1942.
The young woman establishes an underground radio station to advocate unity during the Quit India movement.
Alongside Sara, the film's star-studded cast also includes Anand Tiwari, Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O'Nell, Benedict Garrett, and Emraan Hashmi.
The film is set to premiere on OTT platforms on March 21, 2024.
