Kristen Wiig recently spilled beans on her IVF journey. Recounting her struggles and complications associated with the procedure, she referred to motherhood as a “bittersweet” journey.
Conversing with The Hollywood Reporter, the 50-year-old actress talked about her journey with in vitro fertilization before the birth of their adorable twins in 2020.
She exclusively spoke of the procedure as a “struggle,” noting, "When you go through it, you meet other people who are going through it, and it's almost like this secret little — the whispering conversation at a party. It feels like not a lot of people talk about it."
Kristen, who prefers keeping her family matters discreet at best, revealed: "It is such a private thing, but maybe it doesn't have to be, it's part of my story and part of how I got my amazing family."
In a sit-down with InStyle back in 2020, the comedian revealed that she and her husband Avi Rothman tried IVF three years prior to surrogacy.
Wiig branded it a tough decision for her since she was determined to “get pregnant.”
"I remember when our doctor mentioned going other routes and I was just like, 'Nope. Don't ever bring that up again. I'm getting pregnant. I'm doing this,” the actress shared.
"I finally realized that I just needed help. And, thank God, we found the most amazing surrogate."
However, the mom of two admitted that “overall it was a very beautiful thing, and now that I’m on the other side, I wouldn’t have had it any other way,” she concluded.
