Angela Bassett adores Keke Palmer: 'I'm so proud of her'
Angela Bassett totally loves working with Keke Palmer
Angela Bassett takes a playful jibe at herself.
During her appearance on Wednesday's edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 65-year-old star of 9-1-1 responded to a video that showed Keke Palmer channelling her best Bassett impression while appearing on the late-night programme in November 2021.
"You know who loves you? Our pal Keke Palmer. We love Keke. She came on our show and she did an impression of you," said host Jimmy Fallon before introducing the throwback clip.
Palmer, 30, was shown in the video mimicking Bassett's performance as Katherine Jackson from the 1992 television miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream.
"I do one where I don't know if you guys have seen it. It's the American Dream. The Michael Jackson story where she plays Katherine Jackson," Palmer said in the video. "And it's the moment where she finds out Joe [Jackson] cheated on her, and he comes in [and she says] 'You a liar, and you a cheat, and I don't want you. I don't want you, I don't want you.'"
As the Palmer clip played, Bassett could be seen laughing in the bottom right corner of the screen. Fallon, 49, questioned, "Is that great?" when it was over.
"That's awesome. The little tremor," Bassett replied.
After that, Bassett was questioned by the talk show host over her role as Palmer's mother in the 2006 movie Akeelah and the Bee.
"That's my baby. She requested me to be her mom in Akeelah and the Bee. So I was like so touched. I'm so proud of her," said Bassett.
