Victoria Beckham swears by the medical benefits of apple cider vinegar after consuming it for most mornings in replacement of coffee.

Besides it culinary uses, the concoction of fermented crushed fermented apples, yeast, and sugar has also established itself as a universal remedy for multiple ailments.

According to a new study published in the journal BMJ Nutrition, Prevention and Health, religious consumption of the citrus drink for 12 weeks resulted in significant fall in body weight and body mass index (BMI) in a group of overweight people.

Further research is required to confirm which of the drink’s ingredient is responsible for the weight loss, however, Rony Abou-Khalil, from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in Lebanon, and lead author of the research, said that the results suggested that the vinegar could be used as a weight loss intervention.

Several professors involved in the study expressed wariness of the extensive effectiveness of apple cider vinegar, considering the experiment was performed on a small sample size.

However, there are several other benefits to drinking apple cider vinegar every other day.

1. Antibacterial effects:

As a natural preservative, vinegar could promote killing pathogens within the body or prevent them from multiplying.

According to multiple studies, consumption of apple cider vinegar helps improves insulin function and manage blood sugar levels after meals.

3. Improving heart health:

Vinegar also helps maintaining levels of high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, triglycerides, and total cholesterol levels, as per a research conducted in humans and animals in 2020.

4. Good for skin:

Its acidic nature helps in rebalancing the skin’s natural pH in people with dry skin conditions such as eczema.

The diluted version of apple cider vinegar is also used in a face wash or toner, activating its disinfecting effect.
