Tesla Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk is reportedly planning to launch a television app, similar to YouTube for Amazon and Samsung smart televisions, FirstPost reported.
Sharing a tweet on X, Musk wrote "Coming Soon."
Fortune cited that according to an unidentified person working at X, the interface of the app will be "identical" to Google's YouTube television application.
The person further claimed that Musk was set to compete with YouTube.
As per stats, YouTube was the most-watched streaming platform in 2023.
According to reports, Musk pushed out an early version of the application for some users in October last year to test video and audio calling in a bid to turn the "super app" into offering messaging and online payment features.
As per Fortune cited by Reuters, Musk to become a "video-first platform" has been trying to form partnerships with the likes of former Fox commentator Tucker Carlson and former CNN anchor Don Lemon.
Ever since Musk bought X in 2022 and since then, he has been struggling to retain users and increase the app's engagement.
He recently introduced a new feature called "Articles" which allows users to share content other than just plain text, such as GIFS, videos, and links.
