Former President Donald Trump is all set to clinch the Republican nomination for president next week as he will get enough delegates, five days sooner than in 2020.
To ensure his nomination, the former president is required to receive at least 1,215 delegates in state primaries and caucuses. He already has 1,075 delegates as of Saturday. He will easily make it on Tuesday when Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi and Washington — with a combined 161 delegates — hold their nominating contests.
Donald Trump’s campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt is quite sure of the former president winning the nomination. She said, “The primary is over and President Trump will clinch the nomination sooner than he did in 2020,” when he became the Republican presidential candidate on March 17.
“The American people have spoken and this is nothing short of historic. Now we look towards defeating Crooked Joe Biden and delivering a resounding win for the greatest president in the history of our country, President Donald J. Trump.”
Donald Trump won every Super Tuesday state this week except for Vermont. In Vermont, he was beaten by former UN ambassador Nikki Haley. Earlier also, he dominated the previous nominating states.
Additionally, Nikki Haley prevailed in the District of Columbia primary. It should be mentioned here that Nikki Haley withdrew from the presidential race earlier this week. However, she did not endorse Trump.
Once Donald Trump surpasses the number of delegates required, he will be the presumptive GOP nominee until he receives an official nomination at the Republican Convention in Milwaukee in July.
