A National Guard helicopter crashed on Friday afternoon killing at least three people in Rio Grande City, Texas, The Mirror reported.
The helicopter carrying four people reportedly went down near the border of Texas, two miles east of La Grulla.
According to the Starr County Sheriff's Office, "they are assisting with a downed helicopter incident on the East side of the county, possibly involving four occupants."
The Department of Defense has reported that the helicopter was not associated with border patrol agents of the Lone Star state but was rather working on federal orders.
The names of the deceased have not been disclosed.
In February, five marines lost their lives in a helicopter crash while they were on a routine trip from Nevada to California.
The deceased included Donovan Davis, Alec Langen, Benjamin Moulton, Jack Casey, and Miguel Nava
According to South Texas Regional Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Victor Escalon, at least four persons had suffered critical injuries however out of which three have passed away.
NewsNation reports that one of the deceased is a border patrol agent.
