Jessica Biel has recently revealed she is going to publish her debut children’s book on female period.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Biel said, “People don't talk enough about periods.”
The Sinner actress told the outlet, “I’ve always felt strongly that we need to normalise the discussion around periods and as a parent, writing this book felt like an organic way to engage kids in the conversation from early on.”
In a statement shared via the outlet, Biel penned A Kids Book About Periods to begin “important conversations about periods and the human body with a new generation”.
The book aimed “to teach children, and encourage conversation, about the normalcy of menstruation, as well as the changes that come with growing up in general”.
The new book, which will be published by A Kids Co, would remove the stigma associated with female issue.
The outlet mentioned that Biel’s book was going to publish in collaboration with PERIOD., a nonprofit organisation that would end “period poverty and stigma” through education and advocacy.
Biel, who shares two sons with husband Justin Timberlake, believed that the book would “help children to feel a sense of authority over their bodies”.
“Together with A Kids Co. and PERIOD., I’m excited to share my first book with everyone – A Kids Book About Periods!” continued the actress turned author.
Biel, whose new book will hit shelves on May 7, added, “If we grownups have the confidence to tell the truth about how our bodies work, then we'll give the kids around us the agency and voice to talk about their own bodies with confidence, now and for the rest of their lives.”
