Fans were left wondering about Karan Johar's absence from the pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, prompting questions about why he didn't attend the event.

However, an India Today report explained why the well-known filmmaker was not present at the event.

Allegedly, Karan was invited to the pre-wedding bash and even planned to perform on stage alongside his longtime collaborator Manish Malhotra and the duo even rehearsed together.

But, the Bombay Velvet director fell ill with a viral fever and sore throat at the last moment and as a result, he decided to stay in Mumbai for health reasons.

Previously, on Wednesday, Karan shared a reel of Anant and Radhika's pre-wedding celebration, in which he also extended wishes to the couple on his Instagram account.

Heartiest congratulations to Anant and Radhikamerchant!
