Kirsten Dunst opens up about her struggles with PTSD after Civil War shoot

Kirsten Dunst has recently addressed her struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder after finishing Civil War production.

In a new interview with Marie Claire, Dunst revealed the action scenes in the upcoming movie “involved combat and car chases shook me to my core”.

“I remember hearing them practice an explosion. We were in the hair and makeup trailer, which was very far away from set, and the whole trailer shook,” explained the 41-year-old.

Dunst opened up that she suffered from PTSD “for good two weeks”.

“There's so much gunfire, and then you look at the news and it's a school shooting again,” remarked the Jumanji actress.

Dunst recalled, “I remember coming home and eating lunch and I felt really empty.”

Reflecting on the movie, Dunst stated, “I think it's a cautionary tale, a fable of what happens when people don't communicate with each other and stop seeing each other as human beings.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Dunst discussed about roles offering to women in the industry.

“There's definitely less good roles for women my age,” she mentioned.

Dunst added, “When she read the script for Civil War, I thought, ‘I've never done anything like this.’”

Meanwhile, Dunst can next be seen in Civil War, which is slated to release in theatres on April 12.
