Kanye West faces copyright lawsuit by Donna Summer’s estate

Kanye West yet again faces a lawsuit by Donna Summer’s estate, under accusations of using a sample of her music on his new album which was denied.

According to court documents obtained by BBC, the Queen of Disco's estate said no to Kanye's request to sample the 1977 hit I Feel Love.

The rapper's track Good (Don't Die) used a sample of the song.

His album Vultures 1 featured the song earlier this month but has since been removed.

Summer’s estate’s attorney claims a professional body called Alien Music contacted him on 31 January, on behalf of the rapper and requested clearance to sample the disco hit.

The attorney denied the request, as the estate said there could be a "potential degradation to Summer's legacy" as "West is known as a controversial public figure whose conduct has led numerous brands and business partners to disassociate from him".

The law representative accused West of using a similar track to avoid a strike, but he still claimed the act was copyright infringement.

Donna Summer, who lost his life to lung cancer in 2012, is mostly famous for hits including Love to Love You Baby and Hot Stuff.
