Woman rescued by quick-witted police after she mouths distress signals from speeding car

A Las Vegas woman's plea for help led to a dramatic rescue and the arrest of a man on charges including attempted murder and kidnapping.

The incident took place when the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were conducting a routine traffic stop on the night of February 20.

As the police officers were engaged in the traffic stop, Nathaniel Foutch-Pratt allegedly drove by with a woman in the passenger seat, who, in a desperate attempt to seek assistance, stuck her head out of the window and silently mouthed "help me."

Her distressing gesture caught the attention of the vigilant police officers, prompting them to swiftly chase down the vehicle. Nathaniel Foutch-Pratt raced his car on the highway, where his car ultimately crashed into another vehicle. And, he ended up in police custody.

The arrest report alleges that during the chase, Foutch-Pratt threatened the woman's life, shouting, "she has to die tonight," and attempting to strangle her. Investigations revealed that the two individuals were a couple on a road trip from Illinois to California.

Foutch-Pratt now faces a series of charges, including coercion constituting domestic violence, felony battery, and misdemeanours related to domestic battery and evading law enforcement.

The accused is currently in custody at Clark County jail, held on a $50,000 bond. Scheduled for a court appearance on March 12, Foutch-Pratt is being represented by a public defender, and it remains to be seen if he will enter a plea.
