As soon as the demise news of ghazal legend Pankaj Udhas broke on February 26, 2024, tributes began pouring in from various celebrities for the seasoned singer, who had been ill for a long time.

Indian singer Sonu Nigam took to his Instagram account to expressed his condolences to the family with a picture of Udhas, who passed away at the age of 72.

He wrote, "One of the most important part of my childhood, is lost today. Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, I will miss you forever. My heart cries knowing that you are no more. Thank you for being there. Om Shanti."

Madhuri Dixit also took to her Instagram story to mourn the death of Chitthi Aayee Hai singer, noting, "Deeply saddened by the loss of a music legend, Pankaj Udhas Ji. His ghazals touched the souls of people worldwide. His legacy will forever linger in our hearts! Om Shanti."

The british singer and actress, Sophie Choudry posted on X, noting, "Heartbreaking. One of the kindest gentlemen in the music business. Was always so warm and encouraging from the first time we met."

"My deepest condolences to Faridaji and the family. Rest in Peace Pankaj ji. Thank you for the music ??? #pankajudhas," she added.

Not only celebrities, but also the politicians and ministers of India mourned the death of Udhas.

The Indian Union Minister Anurag Thakur penned on X, "Deeply saddened the news of passing of Pankaj Udhas ji. His career, spanning more than 4 decades, enriched our music industry and gifted us with some of the most memorable and melodious renditions of gazals."

"His demise is an irreparable loss to our music world. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and followers in this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace," he added.

Moreover, the Indian politician Praful Patel wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear of the demise of legendary singer, Pankaj Udhas Ji. His timeless melodies touched the hearts of millions, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music."

"May his soul find eternal peace, and may his music continue to inspire generations to come. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

The news of Udhas' demise was initially announced by his daughter Nayaab Udhas in an Instagram post.

The post stated, "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform of sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to prolonged illness."
