Robert Pattinson’s sci-fi starrer ‘Mickey 17’ set for 2025 release
‘Mickey 17’ is helmed by Oscar winning 'Parasite' director Bong Joon Ho
Robert Pattinson starrer, Mickey 17, is set for a release date next year.
Directed by from Oscar winning Parasite director Bong Joon Ho, the movie will be releasing on Jan. 31, 2025, per announcement by Warner Bros. on Tuesday, via The Hollywood Reporter.
The company has removed it from its previous release date of March 29, 2024, last month as it was delayed by months-long SAG-AFTRA strike held last year.
The delay happed during the production stage which is why the delay did not come as a surprise to many.
An adaptation of the 2022 novel Mickey 7, from author Edward Ashton, The Batman actor will be playing the titular tole of a space colonist known as an expendable, who is is the seventh iteration of a man named Mickey Barnes.
Per the outlet, “Each colony features an expendable, a crewmember who takes deadly jobs but who are then restored via clone bodies when they die.”
Director Bong is expected to put his own trademark spin on the source material, with the film also starring Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo.
The original book is also followed by a sequel, Antimatter Blues, last year. It remains to be seen if the sequel will also be added to the adaptation.
