Vanessa Williams has been tapped to play iconic role of Miranda Priestly in the upcoming The Devil Wears Prada stage musical.
The 60-year-old actress has been announced for the role of editor-in-chief of Runway magazine in the West End edition of the show, previously embodied by Meryl Streep in the original 2006 classic.
"Yes…it’s me," wrote Williams on Instagram alongside a video of herself stomping through the office’s hallway, before taking a seat at Priestly’s desk.
"Don't just sit there. Buy tickets or something," she said to the camera before leafing through the file.
The original film is based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same name. It follows the shenanigans of aspiring journalist Andrea Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, as she struggles to adjust in the uptight environment of the publication.
Williams latest role is a natural territory for her, owing to the actress’ timeless role as nefarious editorial queen, Wilhelmina Slater, in comedy series Ugly Betty.
The Devil Wears Prada stage musical led by Elton John is set to debut at London’s Dominion Theatre in October this year.
