Tom Hiddleston was Jeremy Renner’s biggest supporter at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards.

On Monday, Renner delighted fans and audience alike by making a surprise appearance at the awards show amid his ongoing recovery from a near-fatal snow-plow accident last year.

As the Hawkeye actor stepped onto the stage to a room full of Hollywood A-listers erupting into applause, his Marvel co-star obligingly got up from his chair for a standing ovation.

However, Hiddleston was the only one to do so, and he didn’t sit down until the applause faded out and Renner began his speech.

“Gotta say, it feels good to be back,” Renner, 53, told the audience. “This year’s been a heck of a journey and I’m happy to be here with you the fans,” he added, referring to his difficult recovery after he broke more than 30 bones.

He continued, “You guys are the best. You guys really brought this year. You broke records. You turned movies into movements. We heard you all loud and clear, we heard you.”

The father-of-one then went on to announce the winner of the TV performance of the year: Billie Eilish.

As Eilish accepted her award, Renner stepped back and embraced Hiddleston as he headed backstage.
