Prince William and Kate Middleton believed they had a good many years ahead before they are expected to take over the throne.
However, the latest row of health crisis within the royal family posed unprecedented pressure on the twosome to prepare themselves to rule Britain way ahead of time.
Speaking to In Touch, an insider dished on the situation behind palace doors after King Charles was diagnosed with a “form of cancer” earlier this month.
While the 75-year-old monarch would inevitably be reluctant to abdicate the crown to his eldest son in his lifetime, his current health does not give him much of a choice.
“Charles can’t help but consider stepping down instead, for the sake of the monarchy,” the insider claimed, “meaning William and Kate will be crowned king and queen much sooner than anyone expected.”
As for the mom of three, who is currently recovering after undergoing abdominal surgery last month, is understood to be “ready to step up” despite the timings “not being ideal”.
The insider also gave an insight into the Palace officials’ ‘discreet’ plans for William’s impending coronation, which will honour his long-known desire to scale-down the spectacle.
“William and Kate don’t want all the traditional pomp and circumstance that make them seem out of touch, so it would be scaled down significantly,” they told the outlet. “They’ll likely do the religious ceremony and a small reception, hopefully for less than $15 million.”
