Bryn Forbes, ex-NBA star, arrested for alleged assault on family member
Bryn Forbes's recent arrest comes one year after his detention over misdemeanour assault
Bryn Forbes, the 30-year-old former NBA player, who previously played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, was taken into custody on Tuesday on a third-degree felony allegation related to violence after reportedly strangling and choking a family member.
Forbes was brought to the jail in Bexar County. According to a jail spokeswoman, he was still being held as of Tuesday afternoon on a $7,500 bond. Additionally, it was not known whether Forbes had retained legal counsel, according to Fox news.
According to the preliminary report from San Antonio police, on Monday at 2:17am, officers responded to a call. Forbes is accused of having beaten a lady, 30, who was referred to as "an ex-significant other", who managed to escape and alert law enforcement.
Before the police could arrive, Forbes left the area but was eventually taken into custody.
In addition, Forbes was detained by the police in February of last year on suspicion of assault causing bodily harm, a misdemeanour. He was thought to be seeing the lady he allegedly struck after a verbal disagreement turned physical.
Police stated that the woman did require medical attention.
After attending Cleveland State and Michigan State for his college basketball, Forbes played for four teams over the course of seven seasons. He played his first four seasons with the San Antonio Spurs as an undrafted free agent.
As a free agent, he signed with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021 and won an NBA championship there. The following season, he rejoined the Spurs until being sent to the Denver Nuggets.
