A bizarre incident occurred in Berhampur, India, when a 52-year-old woman came alive just moments before her scheduled cremation, Daily Mail reported.
The woman, identified as Bujji Aama, got severely burned in a house fire on February 1.
She was taken to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment; however, due to financial constraints, she was brought back home even though she was in a critical condition.
A few days later, on Monday, upon trying to wake her up, she did not open her eyes.
Aama's husband, Sibaram Palo, believed she had died, so with the surrounding neighbour’s help, he arranged for her transportation to the cremation ground.
On the day of the planned cremation, as the funeral pyre was being prepared, she reached the venue and one of the accompanying mourners, Chiranjibi, witnessed the unimaginable. Aama opened her eyes.
Chiranjibi said: "Initially, we were scared, as we had never seen such an incident, though we had heard some stories."
Upon her waking up, the hearse driver, Khetrabashi Sahu, who had initially transported what was presumed to be Aama's lifeless body from her home, was urgently called back to the cremation ground.
Aama, still alive and breathing was rescued from what could have been a premature end to her life. She was then returned home in the same hearse.
