Who is Lara Trump?
If Trump's endorsements were to go ahead, it would tighten his hold on Republican party even more
Former United States president and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced endorsement of his "very talented daughter-in-law", Lara Trump, to co-chair the Republican National Committee (RNC), alongside Michael Whatley, chair of North Carolina's Republican Party, BBC reported.
The RNC, as an organisation, focuses on fundraising for the party and motivating Republicans to vote.
If Trump's endorsements were to go ahead, it would mean his campaign would be closely aligned with the committee and its operations. A move that would tighten his hold on the party even more.
The current chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, has been in discussions to step down; sources say that she might step down after the South Carolina Republican primary on February 24.
