Andrew Scott is filling in Matt Damon’s shoes.
Scott – known for his breakthrough roles in Fleabag, Sherlock, and All of Us Strangers – is now taking on the role of e cunning '60s grifter Tom Ripley in Netflix's upcoming limited series, Ripley.
The newest rendition of the infamous character – conceived by Patricia Highsmith in her bestselling Tom Ripley novels – follows the conman's journey after being hired to bring back the wandering Dickie Greenleaf from Italy.
However, Tom finds himself captivated by Dickie's glamorous lifestyle and goes to great lengths – including deceit and even murder – to secure his place alongside him.
Netflix teased the suspenseful drama with a trailer on Monday, stating, "Tom's acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder."
Joining Scott in Ripley are Johnny Flynn as Dickie and Dakota Fanning as Dickie's girlfriend Marge Sherwood – who suspects Tom may not be who he claims to be.
The eight-episode series, set to hit Netflix on Feb. 4, is written, directed, and executive produced by Academy Award winner Steve Zaillian.
The iconic character was last portrayed by Matt Damon in 1999’s The Talented Mr. Ripley alongside Jude Law and Gwenyth Paltrow.
