ESPN and the NFL Network reported on Tuesday morning that Jason Kelce announced his retirement from football to his teammates shortly after the Eagles' 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As the final seconds of Kelce's final game ticked off, the 36-year-old was clearly overcome. As the game was coming to a finish, he hugged offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland.
After that, he walked off the field at Raymond James Stadium and spent a moment with his family in the seats.
His face was still filled with the passion of the moment as he made his way to the Eagles locker room through the tunnel.
In the emotional aftermath of the game, Kelce declined to talk with the media and made no announcements. But it appears that he has made the decision to retire as his 37th season draws near.
Throughout his 13 NFL seasons, Kelce was a member of the Eagles. In his first season of 2011, he joined a squad that ended 8-8 and only made it to the playoffs once in his first six seasons. Then, in 2017, he led a squad that won the franchise's first-ever Super Bowl to victory by anchoring a historic offensive line.
