Karan Johar recently opened up about having twins, Yash and Roohi, via surrogacy.
For the unversed, the renowned Bollywood filmmaker welcomed a daughter and a son via surrogacy in 2017, whom he is co-parenting with his mother, Hiroo Johar.
In conversation with The Week, Karan talked about his decision to opt for the medical procedure and her mother's supportive reaction.
He shared, "When I was 40, my mother asked me what my life plans were since marriage wasn’t on the cards. I told her I really wanted to have babies."
The director revealed that his mother "was wonderful [about it], but I was taking my time" to make a decision.
Karan said that her mother reminded him again a year later. He added, "I only told her about it once the doctors informed me that three months of pregnancy was complete. The babies were expected in April, but they arrived in February."
He continued, "I had to officially announce their arrival from a flight to London once I knew a couple of newspapers were going to carry the story. I could go to the hospital only a month after."
On the professional front, Karan made his directorial comeback with a blockbuster film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in lead roles.
