The bull's eye is from New Orleans to Pensacola, Florida, but tornadoes might possibly hit Houston.
A tornado watch remained in effect until 9 pm in an area that included Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Houston and Beaumont, Texas.
Because of the impending bad weather, schools in the parishes of St James, St Charles, and Jefferson in Louisiana will close early on Monday.
