Ranbir Kapoor received backlash for “mistreating” food and “hurting religious sentiments” over the viral Kapoors’ Christmas lunch video.
A man named Sanjay Tiwari lodged a complaint against the Rockstar actor at the Ghatkopar police station in Mumbai after the Animal actor poured alcohol over cake while chanting a Hindu mantra.
Tiwari explained that in Hinduism, “fire god is traditionally invoked before other deities," however, he noted that Ranbir and his family intentionally used intoxicants for the celebration of Christmas, making it a completely different religious festival.
And the fact that the Barfi actor said “Jai Mata Di” while setting fire is an insult to the Hindu community as it goes against their culture and religion.
In a video shared on Instagram by reliable outlets, Ranbir could be seen giggling as he set the entire cake on fire, while surrounded by his family.
However, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the 41-year-old as of yet, and the matter remains unresolved till date.
