Philip Willet, a Missouri man used artificial intelligence to bring back his deceased father's voice, bringing the internet to tears as a special Christmas gift for his mother.
Willett provided an explanation in the video's caption, which has received over 5.6 million views on the platform. “I decided to do something special for my mom this year for Christmas.”
The Content Guy's St Louis-born content creator revealed in the caption that his father John Willett lost his fight with pancreatic illness in 2022.
He chose to employ artificial intelligence (AI) to digitally resuscitate his "hero" because he wanted to do something special in his honour. So, he used a technology that he routinely uses for business.
Willett told "Good Morning America" that he was first hesitant to use his father's linguistic similarity because he thought it was "weird."
But after discovering a group of folks who utilised the technology to communicate virtually with departed loved ones, the IT wiz finally warmed up to the concept.
While the technology can be beneficial for many, scams and other evil intents are another worry of the critics, who fear that the likenesses of living and deceased persons may be exploited.
