The Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday received significant injury news, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence clearing concussion protocol which is bound to give the team an edge as they head into Week 16 of the American Football Conference (AFC) South Division.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are in a three-way tie with Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts for the AFC South lead and were uncertain of Week 16 vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Lawrence sustained his concussion in the team's Week 15 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
However, the 24-year-old, who has thrown for 3,525 yards with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and rushed for 300 yards with four touchdowns (TDs), defied those odds and will suit up and start on Sunday, Texans Daily reported.
Meanwhile, the Texans will be without their star quarterback QB CJ Stroud for the second consecutive week due to a concussion, unlike Lawrence.
Stroud suffered in a Week 14 blowout loss to the New York Jets and his symptoms have lingered, forcing the Texans to rely on veteran backup QB Case Keenum against the Cleveland Browns, who have the NFL's No 1 ranked defence.
Last week, Keenum led the Texans to an overtime victory over the Titans.
However, against a defence that is among the worst in the NFL, the offence only mustered 19 points, including three in the first half.
With just three games left on each team's schedule, the Jaguars may have just taken a significant lead over the Texans in the AFC South's postseason standings.
