Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki faced a major setback at the box office on the first day of its release.
The King Khan of Bollywood, who delivered massive blockbuster films Pathaan and Jawan earlier this year, failed to mint huge numbers at the box office with his latest offering.
As per Hindustan Times, Rajkumar Hirani's directorial earned only INR30 crore, whereas, Pathaan minted INR57 crore and Jawan netted INR89.5 crore on the movie's debut day.
The romantic drama was branded as the lowest opening for Shah Rukh this year.
However, the movie ruled in the hearts of his fans as social media flooded with heartfelt reviews.
One fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, "Dunki delivers a perfect mix of humour, emotion, and social relevance. #RajKumarHirani delivers excellence in addressing illegal immigration. Phenomenal performances by #ShahRukhKhan, #TaapseePannu, and a show-stealing cameo by #VickyKaushal."
"Such a beautiful classic movie - with a lot of emotions, @iamsrk you are just an phenomenal actor, comedy and emotion timings and dance are too perfect, Age is just a number to you. #TapseePannu she is beautiful , acted very well," another chimed in.
The story of Dunki revolves around the remarkable journey of five friends, struggling to move abroad from India by crossing borders illegally.
The film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Anil Grover, Vicky Kaushal alongside ensemble cast.
