Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was forced to the bench after he threw a fourth-quarter interception against the New England Patriots, which didn't affect his team as they won the game 27-17 on Sunday.
Interestingly, the interception was not Mahomes’ fault, according to The Kansas City Star.
During Sunday's game at the Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, Mahomes threw a perfect pass to wide receiver Kadarius Toney but the ball slipped through Toney’s hands and was intercepted by the Patriots.
The unfortunate slip led to a short field for the Patriots, who scored a touchdown.
Last week, the 28-year-old quarterback received a $50,000 fine from the National Football League (NFL) for critiquing officials after they called an offensive offsides on Toney, which would have been a touchdown, according to Marca.
Many pundits suggested Mahomes should focus on his receivers, particularly Toney, and seems like he finally did so after the interception.
Cameras caught Mahomes fuming with frustration after Toney failed to make the easy catch and the clip went viral on social media and lip readers quickly tried to make out what he said.
"Are you f---ing sh--ing me? God, damn it," Mahomes seemingly yelled after the interception.
Here's what lip readers online think Mahomes said out of frustration.
Even though it is unclear precisely what Mahomes said, a lot of fans were not thrilled with Toney, who had a similar play in the season opener against the Lions.
