Krispy Kreme is offering a complimentary dozen "Original Glazed Doughnuts" to the first 500 customers at each participating location in honour of World Kindness Day on Monday, November 13.

One unique Chocolate Iced Heart doughnut and eleven Original Glazed doughnuts make up this extraordinary Original Glazed dozen. “World Kindness Day is an opportunity to make a positive difference by being generous – from paying it forward to meaningfully connecting with each other. Simple gestures of caring and thanks, including sharing a sweet treat, is a great way to do that,” said Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer for Krispy Kreme. “We hope a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts – one doughnut for you and many to share with others – will inspire millions of small acts of kindness.”

History

The World Kindness Movement had its inaugural meeting in Tokyo, Japan in 1997 with the goal of bringing together like-minded organisations from all around the world. This is when the history of World Kindness Day began. Many countries celebrate this day, including the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Canada, and Nigeria. The day wasn't officially established as an annual occasion until after 1998.

Following this, the kindness movement gained international attention. The Kindness Movement was started in the UK in 2005, and Singapore joined in 2009.

Beginning in the UK in 2010, the World Kindness Movement spread to 27 nations by 2019—France (2015), the USA (2018), Australia (2012), and the UK (2010).

After fighting for decades, the World Kindness Movement has received formal NGO recognition in Switzerland.

Importance

World Kindness Day was created with the intention of utilising kindness to raise awareness of various concerns while highlighting the empathy and optimism that unites all people. Kindness is an essential aspect of the human experience that transcends national, ethnic, religious, gender, and geographic boundaries.

The World Kindness Movement is the largest international organisation that is advancing towards the UN to demand that World Kindness Day be officially recognised and that all of its members consistently celebrate World Kindness with a "Declaration of Support."
