Jeremy Renner believed his recent near-fatal snowplow accident was a blessing in disguise.
Talking to CNN on Monday, the Avengers star reflected on his life after his snowplow accident nine months ago, expressing that he feels “very blessed and very lucky” to have regained his mobility.
However, amid the 52-year-old actor’s recovery journey, Renner picked up some valuable life lessons along the way as well.
Speaking metaphorically, Renner reflected, “I’m very, very clear. My life is really lean, if that makes sense. There’s no fat in my life anymore. I don’t have time for that,” further adding that his time feels “more valuable” now.
The Mission: Impossible actor further described all the positives that came out of the accident that nearly killed him.
“There is a lot of gifts that I received because of it,” he said, specifying, “Preserverance. Strength. It’s all a mental game. I put it in my back pocket now. I know how to deal with pain.”
Renner is still on the road to recovery after a 14,300 lbs. snowplow ran him over as he was trying to clear the three-feet deep snow on New Years’ Day.
As a result, he broke 30-plus bones including eight ribs, an eye socket, a knee, and a shoulder.
But nearly 10 months after, Renner is grateful to “sift through the fog of it all” and “come through it.”
In fact, he just teased a new music project, Love and Titanium, inspired by the life-changing accident, writing on Instagram that the musical collection “has been painful, deeply healing, and ultimately cathartic for [him] to create.”
